Russian hackers leaked a text file online that contains 5 million hacked gmail account login details and passwords. Google employees said to Russian media that most of the details are obsolete and those passwords dont work anymore with the associated accounts. But the uploader claim that 60% of the accounts are still valid and working. This is one of the massive gmail password hack that happened recently.
Google always asks users to tighten their account security by enabling two step authentication. Still, many ignore such alerts and continue to use it without proper security measures. Also using the account on cyber cafes, anonymous computers and devices also leads to password hijack if the computer is infected with malware, spyware and viruses. Many windows users still have no antivirus or internet security software installed in their computers and some dont update the software regularly to make sure the system is stable against latest attacks.
So ensure your computer is always safe against attacks from internet. Google also responded to this attack by saying that this is a very old data and it is working to ensure protecting the user accounts. You may also verify whether your account is compromised in this recent attack or not by visiting https://isleaked.com/en.php and entering your email address. If you dont want to type your full email address you can replace up to 3 characters with asterisk sign and the website will still be able to verify and tell you whether the email address is present in the hacked database or not.
