There is a new malware discovery for android mobile phones, that can hijack your android mobile completely and even after you shutdown the device, it will still be able to track you and make phone calls using your mobile remotely. Google silently ignored millions of android mobiles confirming there will be no security fixes or updates to older versions of android. This isn’t just about the mobile, its about the user data and privacy concerns which raised an alarm.
Recently, Security Researchers from AVG Labs discovered a new malware that remotely monitors, tracks, sends messages and make calls even after you shutdown the device. AVG is a popular free antivirus software provider for Windows PCs. Well behind the scene, that malware actually hijacks the android shutdown process “interceptKeyBeforeQueueing” function and displays a graphic image that looks like the phone is being shut down. But actually it isn’t and leaves the phone still on with a black screen at the end of the graphic.
This is quite a complicated malware to be identified by a normal user, and AVG suggests as the best counter measure to fight this malware, take the battery out to confirm the shutdown. Which makes the phone to go through a hard shutdown.
