WhatsApp Read Receipts or Read Notification is a new feature added silently to all users which gets praised by some and cursed by many. It is also possible to see who read your message in WhatsApp Groups as well. When it comes to updating the App to fit for latest OS releases, WhatsApp acts like it has got just 100 or 200 users totally. Delay in updating the app to latest iPhone, iOS and Android phones always work so late for WhatsApp. If you are looking for some best whatsapp messenger alternatives, then do check the link for some multi platform, super fast messenger alternatives for your Smartphone and Computer as well.

They didnt rollout an official solution to Turn On/Off Read Receipts or Read Notification (Blue Ticks) option, but we have a tweak for Jailbroken iPhones. This method will not work if you are using a non jailbroken device.

Go to Cydia BigBoss repository and search for “WhatsApp Read Receipt Disabler” which is a free to download package. Once you installed and enabled the package, it will block sending read receipts to any of your friends, also you will see the old gray color double ticks only. This disables the Read Notification service on both end and let you use WhatsApp without worrying about Privacy.

There is also a temporary workaround for non Jailbroken iPhones.

When you receive a WhatsApp message and it is displayed on Lock Screen Notification area, simply enable “Airplane Mode” by bringing up Control Center, and read the message received. Once you read it, quit the app and Turn Airplane mode Off to make and receive calls. This will prevent you from sending read receipts to others temporarily.
