Facebook released Messenger.com which allows anyone to use the Facebook Messenger service on a dedicated website without any distraction from the Facebook Newsfeed and Notifications. Messenger.com may look like a stretched version of the facebook messenger service which is already accessible through facebook.com, but the move by facebook to make Messenger service as a standalone app on iPhone, Android and now in Web is very clear.

During the F5 conference they talked about Facebook Messenger App Store and they released it with tons of cool new apps. It is also possible to send payments to your friends via Facebook Messenger. The website looks beautiful, clear and clutter free to chat with any Facebook friends.

The process to get the app is pretty simple and it is just like any other app installation that you do outside Mac App Store.

Step 1: Visit the fbmacmessenger website where the developers have made the installation file available.

Step 2: Download the latest version (right now it is 0.0.2) which addressed 400 errors and some bug fixes.

Step 3: Install the App, and if you see any permission problem to install the app, visit “System Preferences – Security & Privacy – General – Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere”.

You have successfully installed the third party messenger app on mac that allows you to login to your facebook account and use the messenger service right on your mac desktop.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to share this post with your friends if you find it useful. Have a great day.
