Google removes “Ok Google” Voice Search feature from Chrome browser for Desktop users. If it’s turned on you will be able to easily search google just by saying “OK Google” after launching Chrome browser. It listens all the time and becomes active when you say Ok Google and starts searching google to serve your the results you want without typing anything on your keyboard.

Looks like many chrome users found this as a favourite feature, hence google decided to remove this feature along with Notification Center which also got less useful for Chrome users.

Google has an exception and Chromebook users will still have that Desktop Voice Search feature activated by saying “Ok google”. On the other hand, removing this always listening feature and notification center from Google Chrome for Desktop will improve the chrome’s performance. Google chrome is popular for its high memory consumption and lagging performance on many Windows and OS X computers.

Removing certain less used features will definitely be a good idea for improving the browser performance at some percentage. If you still want to use Ok Google voice search feature on your desktop, you have to click on the microphone icon and use it.
