After 2011, here is another DNS Hijacking Malware targeting mac computers globally. Fix MaMi macOS DNS Hijacking Malware infection by identifying in few easy steps. You can fix the infection by removing the DNS entries the malware has created.
Basically, it alters the DNS entries if you have any (such as Google DNS) or creates the new DNS entries to monitor all your Internet activity.
Identify MaMi Malware
DNS Entries Created by MaMi macOS Malware are 220.127.116.11, 18.104.22.168. You can visit “System Preferences – Network – Advanced – DNS tab” to see the list of DNS entries. If you see anything similar to above given dns entries, then clearly your system got infected by MaMi macOS Malware. Otherwise, you are totally safe.
Fix MaMi Malware
After you identified the DNS entries from the above step, you can easily remove it or replace it with Google DNS Entries to make sure the data transmission is cut between your computer and to the Hackers Network.
The purpose of DNS entries presence is to capture all the Internet Traffic that happens IN/Out of your Mac computer. That includes Bank Logins, Email Credentials, Passwords, Credit Card info’s and Website related data.
Hackers can even capture screenshots of your current Desktop screen remotely and browse through the File System as well. Which means, they can browse through all the Files and Folders in your Mac’s storage disk drives.
Temporarily you can install Bitdefender Antivirus for mac or Kaspersky antivirus for mac to fight against all types of viruses, malwares and spywares. Apple also seems to be working on fix which will be out in couple of weeks or less to all mac users globally.
