Strange iOS Bug allows Hidden Album access bypass via third party apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram. Tested and I can confirm that the same issue present in both iOS 14.6 and iOS 15 Public Beta 2. You can Hide Hidden Album by flipping the Toggle ON and OFF under Settings – Photos.

Hidden Album on iPhone allows you to store photos and videos that you think, should not be accessed by others when a friend or family member browse through your Photos Albums.

Unfortunately, iOS Bug that first spotted by my audience allows us to access the Hidden Album via Apps. We can access, view and attach those photos stored inside Hidden Albums, irrespective of the settings we have under Photos App.

Apple allows us to hide the album from being visible by going to “Settings – Photos – Hidden Album“. This toggle allows us to hide the directory even appearing in the Photos app.

But this strange new iOS bug allows us to access those hidden album and its contents via Apps. I have tested the hidden album  with Twitter and WhatsApp. It works!. And the same method should be working for other apps like Facebook, Instagram and any other app that have permission to access Photos.

I have reported it to Apple Support via Twitter and hoping to see a fix very soon. Thanks to “Vamsi Muthu” for highlighting the problem.
