New Ransomware is spreading faster via a popular Torrent Client Software and the target is Mac OS X users. Last week Transmission BT App for Mac released an update and this came with a Ransomware “KeyRanger” which encrypts the hard disk drive of Mac OS X running computers and the attacker demand some money to unlock the computer and remove encryption, so that you can access your data.

That’s how ransomware works, but there is no confirmation that the hacker will free up your data once he got the money. He may demand for more and your data will be at risk. Ransomware’s recently became popular among Windows systems, and its new to Mac OS X.

Apple has updated its Gatekeeper security system to fight against KeyRanger Ransomware in OS X. Just make sure you are using apps that are downloaded from App Store and not passes Gatekeeper security system.
