New Mac OS X Trojan Alert ! Installs Silently without any Password Prompt

Alert ! Mac OS X Trojan started to spread not viral but slowly and this opens a Backdoor after getting installed silently into a mac computer. This trojan currently named as OSX/Crisis by a security firm Intego and spotted first by Virustotal.com the online antivirus scanner service.

Just few minutes ago Apple has rolled out Mountain Lion OS X and there is no information regarding the fix or threat detection status officially from Apple. However, it is recommended to run full system scan if you have Mac Antivirus Installed on your Macbook or iMac. You may also consider trying Bitdefender for Mac to protect your computer from Internet Threats.

OSX/CRISIS Trojan Detection Steps:

Check for the following Folder as the Trojan create this to copy and run few files without Admin permission.

Go to “Finder” – Select “GO” from the Top Menu – Select “Go to Folder” and Enter the following path.

~/Library/ScriptingAdditions/appleHID/

This one created with Admin Permission.

~/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/XPCServices/

So far it is found that this trojan can infect only Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Lion only. We are not sure whether it can affect Mountain Lion as well.
