iOS Apps are always gorgeous and gets best rating from iPhone, iPad users. Gaming, Productivity, Health and well categorized apps collection powers iOS devices and enrich the user experience all the time. 6 PhD students from Columbia University did some great work and created a software to port iOS Apps on Android Smartphone or Tablet. “Cider” is the name of that software which allows android tablet or smartphone to run both domestic and foreign binaries. Which means you can run both Android and iOS Application easily.
So how this cider actually works to port iOS Apps to Android device ? Cider copies all the necessary libraries and frameworks to convince an iOS App that it is running on Apple’s XNU Kernel. There are more to be done yet and the above video demonstrates just the prototype of their work on how it is done.
The developer team of cider will continuously work on this to make it full compatible and loaded with all necessary features. Currently Cider cannot access android devices built in camera, GPS signal, Cell Radio, Bluetooth and more components. We can expect a fully working cider in coming days and that will allow us to port and run iOS Apps on Android tablet and smartphone.
