GuestHello, i still have this problem where my whatsapp keeps crashing and it says. “Whatsapp couldn’t start, restart the phone if this issue comes back” videos won’t play either when this happens. Does anybody have an idea how i can fix this or where this is coming from. I thought it was my old phone, but yesterday i got an new brandnew iPhone and the same shit keeps coming back…
Greetings Dave.

KeymasterHi Dave, Your iPhone model, current iOS version and available free storage?
Dave de Jonge
GuestHello, i have an iPhone 14 Pro Max, ios 16.3.1 and i have used 45,7 GB of the 128 GB

KeymasterDo try this app offload method dave, this should clear out any app specific problems causing such crash and restart.
also if you have any third party keyboards enabled, try disabling that temporarily and set it to default stock keyboard and check too. let me know if that helps.

GuestHello, i tried it. But it keeps crashing. It’s so frustrating…

KeymasterHi Dave, Sorry to know that problem still not solved. as a last option you can take full backup of your iPhone in iTunes and perform iOS Restore once. Then restoring the backup will help fixing the problem related to apps and iOS system. When suggested troubleshooting steps didnt help, thats the best way to solve it.

I haven’t done any video in our channel about iOS Restore yet. but above article will help to do it yourself if you have a Windows computer with iTunes installed or if you own a Mac then you can use Finder App to perform the iOS Restore after connecting your iPhone.
If the phone is under warranty or you like to get a technician help, then you may visit nearest apple service center and they will do it for you.

GuestHello, i have whatsapp installed on my desktop also. But this version was not updated to the latest patch. Could this possibly be the issue? I don’t know, i just updated it and i will wait now. Otherwise i have to try the steps above.
Thanks!
Robin C
KeymasterYes its possible. Updating to latest whatsapp version also recommended basic troubleshooting step. If its whatsapp related issue then updating will help fixing it. otherwise iOS related steps as suggested above should be tried. I hope it works.

GuestI have just restored everything, got the issue right away after installing my iphone again. I don’t know what it is, i am frustrated as hell
Robin C
KeymasterSorry to hear about it dave. Did you restore the backup or installed whatsapp from appstore without backup restore?
Dave de Jonge
GuestFrom backup
Robin C
KeymasterSo the problem is with the whatsapp or the backup file. Let me check for any possible work around to access the data. will reply shortly.

GuestI think it’s a software kinda issue. Because not only whatsapp crashes. I can’t play videos on Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook etc. It’s like my whole phone freezes and i have to wait or restart to make it go away.
Robin C
KeymasterIts clearly software issue, but iOS Restore should have helped if its iOS related problem. Looks like recent whatsapp updates have caused so many issues for many iPhone users. I am handling similar problems in twitter from our fellow iPhone users too.
It is good to check once with apple service center in your case Dave. whether any hardware level issue is causing such crashes repeatedly or not should be diagnosed once too.

KeymasterHi Dave, Todays WhatsApp Update Fixes Crashing Problem iPhone users were facing. If you are still facing that problem, do update whatsapp from appstore and check whether its working normally or not.
