Microsoft to introduce “Windows Hello” with Microsoft Windows 10, a new Enterprise level Biometric Authentication system that uses your fingers, iris and face to authenticate to your computer. Your Biometric information is encrypted using asymmetric cryptography techniques which microsoft claims hard for hackers to steal your actual password unless hackers steal your device.
Following video shows how secure Windows Hello will be, by the Developers. Microsoft also plans to use the Hello authentication system for all its services Xbox, Windows Phones etc., in coming days with Windows 10.
Anti-Spoofing Capabilities built-in the Windows 10 Biometric authentication system protects from hackers or others using your Photos to authenticate to your computer. Microsoft stores all the biometric information you record inside your device in an encrypted format. There is no need for Internet access to use this feature as it works completely offline.
Though it sounds really secure, we need to get our hands on and wait for the official release to let hackers play with it. Only then we can be sure how strong it is in reality.
Microsoft Windows Hello, is aimed to change the password management and users will be able to buy additional accessories to scan their finger print with laptop and desktop computers. For iris and face recognition, windows hello will possibly use the built-in camera in Laptop and Desktop PC’s.
