Yahoo Mail service got hacked and the company has made an announcement about it today in a tumblr blog post. Yahoo is still investigating this issue, and started to notify its users to change password. So far they found that the list of usernames and passwords that were used to execute the attack was likely collected from a third party database compromise, and there are no evidence so far whether they are obtained from Yahoo Systems directly.

Yahoo also mentioned in its blog post that its working with federal law enforcement to find and prosecute the perpetrators responsible for this attack. Additional security measures are in place to protect yahoo accounts and systems for further attacks.
