HOW TO: Create a Google Alert for any News

Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results of your favorite topics, based on your choice of query or topic. You dont have to search for your favorite category specific news and

Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:

  • Monitoring a developing news story
  • Keeping current on a competitor or industry
  • Getting the latest on a celebrity or event
  • Keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams

For Example, Lets take the topic: “Recession 2011”

Step 1: Make sure that you are Logged in to your Gmail account first.

Step 2: Open a new tab (optional). Go to, Google.com and Type the Keyword “recession 2011”

Step 3: On the Left side search pane of Google, select the option as “News”

Step 4: Scroll down to end of the Search results. You can notice: “Keep up to date with these results: Create an email alert for recession 2011, Select that.

Step 5: It will take you to Google Alert service. Select Create Alert.

Step 6: It will finally display a notification that your Google Alert has been created.
