BSNL is in the practice of promoting its broadband backbone from the existing ADSL system to VDSL which in its internet highway permits maximum speed up to 26 Mbps. And Siemens, the German firm is undertaking the whole hardware up gradation for the change from ADSL to VDSL. Also, BSNL will offer a new tariff plan for patrons who will select for the 16 Mbps internet connectivity package.
This Technology is in existence with effect from 25th December,2009 in MTNL Mumbai as India’s first fastest 20 Mbps connectivity and also to be rolled out sooner in BSNL Delhi , Kolkata. Sooner within the end of this year all will be able to enjoy the high speed connectivity at affordable tariffs.
Presently, BSNL provides a tariff plan for up to 8 mbps and the existing ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line technology at BSNL enables internet connectivity speed up to 16 Mbps. Also, VDSL or VHDSL (Very High Bit rate DSL) is the next-generation technology that is proficient of supporting high bandwidth applications akin to HDTV.

Service tax will be charged extra. For new customers availing VDSL_COMBO plans, charges like security deposit, installation charges, Registration charges are at par with normal customers of One India STD and One India STD/ISD plan for landline. Monthly CPE charges are NIL for both existing & new customers availing VDSL_COMBO plan as it is a combo plan.
Sounds good but the price is too high

You are correct.. for home users this plan can never be imagined. May be for corporates and medium level organizations it may suite.
BSNL has slashed rates heavily due to competition…
