Apple’s next budget iPhone is coming soon. The iPhone 17e (successor to the iPhone 16e from 2025) is expected to launch this March 2026. Leaks from reliable sources like Mark Gurman at Bloomberg point to a quick release, possibly without a big event.
It could just be a press release or website update.

Most reports say end of March 2026 could be the iPhone 17e Release schedule, exactly one year after the iPhone 16e. If you’re waiting for an affordable iPhone upgrade, here’s the latest on what to expect.

iPhone 17e Release Date
Release date: “Imminent” according to Gurman. Many leaks point to mid-February 2026, with February 19 as the rumored announcement date.
If Apple changes the regular schedule, will keep you posted.
No fancy event: Apple might skip a keynote and just announce it quietly, like last year’s iPhone 16e. That means pre-orders could start right away, with shipping shortly after.
It’s aimed at people in emerging markets, businesses, and anyone wanting a solid iPhone without spending $800 or more.
iPhone 17e Price
No Increase in Price Expected this year.
Starting at $599, same as the iPhone 16e.

Gurman says Apple wants to market it as “more features for the same cost.” That’s a strong selling point if the upgrades hold up.
Some older rumors mentioned a possible $499 price, but recent leaks stick to $599.
iPhone 17e Specs: Key Upgrades
The iPhone 17e won’t get a full redesign. It should look very similar to the 16e:
- 6.1-inch OLED display with a notch (not Dynamic Island yet)
- Single rear camera
- Action button
- Aluminum build
But inside, there are meaningful changes:
Faster A19 Chip:
A19 ProcessorPowered by the A19 chip (same as the main iPhone 17 from last year).
Better performance, efficiency, and full Apple Intelligence support (AI features run smoother).
Big step up from the A18 in the 16e. Apps feel snappier, battery lasts longer.
MagSafe Finally Added
First time on an “e” model. The 16e skipped it and used slower Qi charging.
One of the disappointment with iPhone 16e is going to be addressed with this year iPhone 17e Magsafe addition.
Rumors say up to 25W MagSafe wireless charging speed, matching higher-end models.
This fixes one of the biggest complaints about the last budget iPhone.
Apple’s Latest In-House Chips
C1X cellular modem: Apple’s newer 5G chip for faster, more efficient connections and better battery life on data.
N1 wireless chip: Handles Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread. Stronger signals, less drain.
These are part of Apple’s push to use its own components instead of Qualcomm or others.

iPhone 17e Display
Display: 6.1-inch OLED, 60Hz refresh rate, notch (no Dynamic Island in most leaks).
Camera: Single 48MP rear lens (same as before).
Storage: Likely starts at 128GB or possibly 256GB.
Battery mAh: As per leaks, iPhone 17e Battery Capacity will be around 4000mAh range,
combined with A19 chip efficiency it will deliver better battery backup compared to iPhone 16e.
What Might Not Change?
- No big design shift: same size, colors (black/white options?), and single camera setup.
- Still no ultra-wide or telephoto lens.
- Notch instead of Dynamic Island (some early rumors mentioned it, but recent reports say no).
We are expecting iPhone 17e to ship with iOS 26.3 stable version. You may check out the list of iOS 26.3 features in our recent post.
iPhone 17e will be Best Buy?
The iPhone 17e looks like a smart refresh: flagship-level chip, MagSafe, better connectivity, and all at the same $599 price. If you have an older budget iPhone or want something simple with good AI features, this could be worth waiting for.
Leaks can change, but Gurman is usually spot-on. Keep an eye on Apple’s site in the next week or two.
My suggestion is to wait till official release and then we can compare it with iPhone 16e vs iPhone 17e and most importantly whether to go for iPhone 16 or iPhone 17e as the display refresh rate is going to be very similar but internal spec upgrades will again stand as a confusing factors to decide.
