iPhone 15 and 15 Plus May Be Delayed Due to Camera Sensor Issues

According to a report by Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus may be delayed due to issues with the camera sensor. Pu says that he expects the production yield for the stacked CMOS image sensor (CIS) to be low, which could delay the launch of the two phones.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to feature a 48-megapixel main camera, which would significantly upgrade over the 12-megapixel main camera on the iPhone 14.

However, the stacked CIS is a new technology, and Apple may have difficulty manufacturing it in large quantities.

Another added piece of info is, iPhone 15 and 15 Plus 48 megapixel camera sensors will not be the same as iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max model’s sensors. Apple may make some minor changes to differentiate last year’s Pro models.

iPhone 15 and 15 Plus Release Delay

During a September event, Apple released iPhone 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max last year. The availability is also set to the end of the same month. But iPhone 14 Plus was scheduled to be available almost 30 days after the announcement.

I think a similar schedule may be followed with the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.

I see this as a business decision that will let customers choose the iPhone 15 Pro Max model over the iPhone 15 Plus model. It could definitely affect the sales of 15 Pro Max, as many will opt for iPhone 15 Plus if it’s launched along with other iPhone models.

Do you like to add any other possibility or reason behind this delayed launch? Feel free to mention it in the comments.

What about iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus Processor?

We will likely see the same iPhone 14 Pro A16 Bionic Processor in iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models. This means the processing of photos and videos shot using a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, will be processed the same way as iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models.

If the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are delayed, it would be the first time Apple has delayed a major iPhone release since 2017. However, it is important to note that Pu’s report is just a prediction, and Apple may overcome the production challenges and launch the phones on time.

What is a stacked CMOS image sensor?

A stacked CMOS image sensor is a type of camera sensor that uses a stacked architecture to improve performance. The pixels are arranged in a single layer in a traditional CMOS image sensor. In a stacked CMOS image sensor, the pixels are arranged in multiple layers, allowing more efficient use of space and power.

Stacked CMOS image sensors are a new technology that is still under development. However, they have the potential to offer significant improvements over traditional CMOS image sensors.

Why might the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus be delayed due to camera sensor issues?

There are a few reasons why the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus might be delayed due to camera sensor issues. First, stacked CMOS image sensors are a new technology, and Apple may be having difficulty manufacturing them in large quantities.

Second, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to feature a 48-megapixel main camera, a significant upgrade over the 12-megapixel main camera on the iPhone 14.

This could put additional strain on Apple’s production capabilities.

What are the implications of a delay for the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus?

If the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are delayed, it could have several implications for Apple and its customers. First, it could hurt Apple’s sales.

The iPhone is Apple’s most important product, and a delay in the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus release could lead to lost sales.

Second, it could disappoint customers looking forward to the new phones. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to be significant upgrades over the iPhone 14, and a delay could mean that customers have to wait longer to get their hands on them.

What can Apple do to avoid a delay?

Apple has a few options to avoid delayed iPhone 15 and 15 Plus release dates. First, it could increase its production capacity for stacked CMOS image sensors. Second, it could scale back the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus features.

Third, it could delay the phone’s launch to a later date.

It is too early to say what Apple will do to avoid delays for the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. However, the company is aware of the potential challenges and is likely to take steps to mitigate them.
