macOS Sequoia Release Date

Apple typically releases its new macOS versions in the fall. This year, macOS Sequoia brings Apple Intelligence features to Apple Silicon chip-enabled Macs. From M1, users can use Apple Intelligence on their Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Studio computers.

The macOS Sequoia release date is expected around the end of September.
In previous years, iOS 18 and iPad OS 18 were released by the end of September. A MacOS release takes at least a month.

So far, no such delays are expected this year, but I will update this post if there is any change in the release schedule.

In the meantime, developers and beta testers will have access to preview versions of macOS Sequoia to test and provide feedback. These beta versions allow app developers to ensure their applications are compatible with the new operating system and give users a glimpse of the upcoming features.

macOS  Sequoia Compatible Devices

You’ll need a compatible Mac device to enjoy the latest features and improvements macOS Sequoia offers.

Apple usually supports its new operating systems on a range of Macs that have been released in recent years.

Here is the list of Mac models that are likely to be compatible with macOS Sequoia:

  1. iMac 2019 and later
  2. iMac Pro 2017 and later
  3. Mac Studio 2022 and later
  4. MacBook Air 2020 and later
  5. Mac mini 2018 and later
  6. MacBook Pro 2018 and later
  7. Mac Pro 2019 and later

If your Mac is on this list, you can expect to upgrade to macOS Sequoia when it becomes available.

However, some features may not be available in older Mac models, even though they are in the macOS Sequoia Compatible macs above. Apple Intelligence, for example, is available only on Apple M1 and later processors available on Mac models.

Before upgrading to macOS Sequoia, it’s always a good idea to ensure that your Mac has sufficient storage space and that you have backed up your important data.

Apple recommends having at least 20GB of free storage space to install the new operating system smoothly.

Check Apps Compatibility

Additionally, it’s wise to check if the applications you rely on are compatible with macOS Sequoia.

Usually, app developers take a month or two more to release an update to make the latest macOS compatible. So, before updating to a significant macOS version, check whether the apps you use daily are compatible with the macOS Sequoia.

That should help.

Thanks for checking out this post; feel free to share it with your friends. It could help you learn about the macOS Sequoia Release Date and compatible devices. Have a productive day.
