There are so many picture hosting websites but still its increasing in numbers and when people find it some thing different in content compare to the other then they do subscribe or bookmark it. Rather simply bookmarking today it automatically spreads the word about the bookmark done by one person to all others connected or to the people following. That positively automates your work of advertising the blog or website.
Each social media site have a separate place to upload and share such albums or images you like to spread in the web. Hence using the same pipeline to pull the plug is the smart way too. Create Groups in Google or Yahoo to spread your images in much efficient way. This will really work when you post some creative or whatever your choice of category based pictures. People not only join, they will do spreading the pics to their friends by simply clicking on the forward button when they get some interesting or funny sort of images in their email.
There are some great groups in google, yahoo who actually targeted the email users at first (eg: nidokidos) and now they are wide spread with their own websites and blogs. So think about this stage too.
Fourth –
Try designing some greeting cards where people can use it as an ecard to greet their friends. Use stunning images for the keywords you use for the greeting terms. That will never make the visitor to forget your site url even :). Just give a try with your basic photoshop skill and let me know whether it works or not. Dont forget to build a gallery page to categories the pictures you upload and let the users search and navigate them easily.

If any one is serious in Blogging or webmastering then he/she may get huge traffic through images from Google image Search. But the only problem is that near about 80% webmasters didnt know how to put image on any pages properly, so that it can be index by google images.

That’s pretty sick. I was thinking of starting an image hosting site. I have a few hosted machines out there on the internet. my problem is do you have to check the images all the time? what if someone puts up porn or worse?

I would recommend you to consider some moderators to manage the images with the admin console. And it is very important the script you choose to run image hosting websites. It must have some great admin interface and gallery controls. And Banning system ofcourse.
